Not all ophthalmic practices are the same. While most centers focus on what they can accomplish for their patients, sometimes it is important to know what a center or a doctor WON’T do:
We won’t approve you for any type of procedure unless we know you’re an excellent candidate.
For example, some eyes are simply not suited for laser vision correction. Even with today’s most advanced technology, about 20% of LASIK applicants are advised to consider another method of vision improvement. Dr. Lipstock will not recommend LASIK in Richmond unless he knows he can achieve the outcome you want and that LASIK can provide. However, we won’t send you away disappointed because we provide a full array of modern vision correction technologies including PRK and Refractive Lens Exchange.
Likewise, not all cataract patients require cataract surgery right away. Dr. Lipstock can help you determine if your vision condition is right for any type of procedure.
We won’t jump on a technology bandwagon, just because others are using it.
For example, Dr. Lipstock has been internationally recognized for his research into femtosecond laser-assisted cataract surgery (FLACS). “When FLACS came on the market, I began to research it extensively. What I have found is that this technology, which so many are touting as ‘the best’ could possibly cause more complications than the current ultrasound-based technology (phacoemulsification). And even if there is not an increased risk of complications, the visual results have not been shown to be any better than that with standard phacoemulsification. Furthermore, FLACS adds considerable cost to the procedure,” says Dr. Lipstock.
We won’t rush you.
As Dr. Lipstock says: “We’re not running a production line; we’re never in a hurry, we never take shortcuts and we’re answerable only to our patients – not a board of directors in another state. We’re being entrusted with our patients’ eye health and their hopes for the best vision they can achieve, therefore safety and excellence of outcome are our foremost concerns.”
We won’t treat you like a number.
Dr. Lipstock always says “I know my patients come to me with apprehensions and expectations and my first step is to get to know them as individuals, settle their concerns, and then help them achieve better vision. I love my profession. I love what I do. I love providing the best vision possible for my patients and I am just as excited and thrilled to perform my next procedure as I was with my first.”
We won’t make our decisions based on the directions of bean counters in a distant corporate office.
One of the benefits of owning your own business is that you get to make all the decisions about the business: things like the type of equipment you’ll use and how often you’ll upgrade it, the number of people on the patient care staff and the standards you’ll adhere to for your patients. Dr. Lipstock is very particular about these things and makes sure his entire team embraces his standards.
We won’t subject you to sales pressure.
Some people shy away from the offer of a free Consultation because they’re sure it will mean sales pressure. Not at Lipstock LASIK & Cataract Center.
The purpose of our free LASIK Consultation is to verify that you’re a good candidate. Once this is determined, the ball is in your court. If you’re a good candidate for LASIK, we’ll be happy to discuss affordability whenever you like, and if you decide to schedule your procedure right then and there, that’s fine with us too. But we’re not running a production line, so relax and leave your concerns about sales pressure, and your checkbook, at home.
We won’t leave you in suspense about your credit application.
If you need eye care financing, we’ll show you how to apply online. Our online credit application and approval process can help you find out what your payments are likely to be immediately – even before you come into the office for the consultation and exam.
We won’t leave you wondering if you’ll achieve your vision goals.
We will provide extensive education about every procedure we offer and we will answer every question you have about how your vision will improve. This commitment to patients begins with our Consultations and continues post-treatment.
