Physical Illness or Conditions
There are many physical conditions that can also impact your ability to receive or recover from surgery. Uncontrolled or severe autoimmune disorders such as Lupus or Rheumatoid Arthritis. Diabetes can cause diabetic retinopathy, which may compromise vision due to changes in the retina and can be a potential roadblock to corrective vision. Pregnancy can also cause temporary eye changes which may affect when you are able to schedule your procedure. We’ll help you establish whether or not your existing conditions will hinder your candidacy for LVC at your consultation.
Age and Lifestyle
A good LVC candidate is generally between the ages of 18 and 50 with stable vision. LVC surgery can greatly enhance your life, however, some lifestyle factors need to be considered, particularly after your procedure. If you participate regularly in swimming, water sports, or contact sports, you will need to avoid these activities for a period of time after your surgery to ensure you heal completely.
