It is very important for us to detrmine if you are a good candidate for LASIK. Some patients are not candidates for any refractive procedures and some may be better suited to a procedure other than LASIK. If you are a candidate for LASIK, a very thorough exam will give us the details we need to maximize your LASIK outcome. A contact lens can effect the shape of the cornea, therefore contacts must be discontinued prior to both your pre-surgical exam and the LASIK procedure itself. This way we know that the laser will be reshaping a stable corneal curvature. We understand that for some patients this is the most difficult part of their LASIK experience, but it is very important in order to achieve the excellent predictability we are accustomed to. Depending on the type of contacts you wear, you should discontinue wearing them as follows:
An additional vision check will be required for toric, extended wear or gas permeable lens wearers to document stabilization of the corneal shape. We ask that you please do not wear facial or eye makeup to your examination and please give your eyelids a thorough cleansing prior to your appointment. Facial makeup, eyeliner, mascara, etc. can get in your eyes and eyelashes where we will be doing a very careful examination. LIPSTOCK Lasik & Cataract Center |
